INSTALLATION

  1. Extract the BigDaddy-RideService resource folder from the download into your server's resources folder.
  2. Add your product key (get it here) to [licensing] in settings.ini.
  3. Review settings.ini, server.lua, and the postal setup below before starting the resource.
  4. Add ensure BigDaddy-RideService to your server.cfg. Start any optional resources used for money, player taxi drivers, or speed limits first.

DO NOT RENAME THE FOLDER. Keep the resource folder named BigDaddy-RideService.

{:is-danger}

When updating, back up your configuration and custom files, install the complete new resource, and merge your settings into the new files. Include the html, stream, and data folders: the menu and bundled vivanite2 self-driving taxi use these assets.

CONFIGURATION

Edit settings.ini. The main values below are supplied in the current configuration; use your own product key. Model lists accept multiple spawn names separated by commas with no spaces, and a model is selected randomly from the list.

SETTING DEFAULT DESCRIPTION
[licensing]
key1 none Key from your Big Daddy Scripts account.

taxi_models taxi Taxi vehicle models.
limo_models stretch Limo vehicle models.
other_models dilettante Alternative ride vehicle models.
taxiai_models vivanite2 Self-driving taxi models. The default model is bundled.

Keep the supplied DesyncKey unchanged.

Optional settings

These settings are supported by the code but are not included in the supplied settings.ini. Add them under [settings] if needed. Values below are the defaults used when a setting is absent.

SETTING DEFAULT DESCRIPTION
baseFare 4.0 Starting fare for taxis, self-driving taxis, and alternative rides.
costPerKM 1.68 Charge per kilometer for taxis, self-driving taxis, and alternative rides.
baseFareLimo 200.0 Starting fare for limos.
costPerKMLimo 4.0 Limo charge per kilometer.
DefaultSpeedLimit 45 Fallback road speed limit in MPH when a lookup is unavailable.
nearestPostalExportScript BigDaddy-HUD Resource providing the getPostal() export when external postal lookup is selected.
UseAcePermissions false Require an ACE permission to initialize Ride Service for a player.
AcePermission command ACE permission checked when UseAcePermissions=true.

Money integration

Configure server.lua for your framework. The included options are nat, qb, esx, nd, bigdaddy, and custom; the supplied selection is bigdaddy. The payment handlers deduct from the player's bank account. Custom integration requires your own payment code. QBCore also supports the included useSociety and toSocietyaccount options through qb-management.

Postals

For the built-in postal file, set the following under [settings]:

nearestPostalsExport=

The resource loads postals.json by that exact name. To use the included old-postals.json, new-postals.json, or ocrp-postals.json, copy the contents of your chosen file into postals.json. Custom postal data should use the same structure.

External postal lookup uses two settings: nearestPostalsExport must be nonempty, and nearestPostalExportScript identifies the resource that exposes getPostal(). Setting nearestPostalsExport alone does not select the resource; the resource defaults to BigDaddy-HUD.

Optional integrations

RESOURCE BEHAVIOR
BigDaddy-Jobs-TaxiDriver Taxi, limo, and alternative ride calls check for an available player driver first, then fall back to an automated ride when none is available. Self-driving taxis are always automated.
BigDaddy-PostedSpeed Supplies road speed limits when running. Otherwise, Ride Service uses the included Posted.json, with DefaultSpeedLimit as a fallback.
BigDaddy-LocalsCall911 Receives the unpaid-ride report when running. Otherwise, the report appears as a 911 chat message. Postal requirements above still apply.

COMMANDS

COMMAND INFO
/rideservice Open the menu to choose a taxi, limo, alternative ride, or self-driving taxi.
/taxi Call a taxi.
/limo Call a limo.
/taxi-other Call an alternative ride.
/taxiai Call a self-driving taxi.
/cancelride Cancel an automated pickup before entering the vehicle.

The menu's Cancel Ride button appears while an automated pickup can be canceled. Close or Escape only closes the menu.

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Use /rideservice to choose a service, or call it directly with a command above. You can only have one automated ride active at a time.
  2. Wait for the vehicle and press F when prompted to get in.
  3. Set a waypoint on the map. Once you are inside with an active waypoint, the ride starts in normal mode. Use E to select normal driving during the trip.
  4. Use Spacebar for HURRY mode or Enter for FLEE mode. You can switch modes throughout the ride.
  5. At the destination, the vehicle stops, your character exits automatically, and the fare payment handler runs.

The self-driving service has no visible driver and uses the same destination and driving-mode controls. Automated vehicles still rely on GTA's AI and can get stuck or crash.

Canceling a pickup

Before you enter the vehicle, use /cancelride, choose Cancel Ride in /rideservice, or press E while the vehicle is approaching or waiting. The vehicle leaves the pickup and returns to wandering traffic.

After the vehicle reaches the pickup, moving more than 100 meters away also cancels the call. A vehicle waiting for you to enter will honk and leave after about 60 seconds.

Pickup cancellation is unavailable once you have entered. During an active journey, clearing the destination waypoint ends the ride, stops the vehicle, and runs the normal arrival/payment flow.

Fares and driving modes

The fare is the starting fare plus distance traveled in kilometers multiplied by the per-kilometer rate, plus driving-mode surcharges.

MODE KEY TAXI / SELF-DRIVING / ALTERNATIVE LIMO
Normal E No extra charge No extra charge
HURRY Spacebar Add $1.00 when switching into this mode Add $10.00 when switching into this mode
FLEE Enter Add $2.50 when switching into this mode Add $25.00 when switching into this mode

HURRY drives faster and ignores some traffic rules; FLEE uses more aggressive driving. Switching away and back adds the surcharge again. Pressing the key for the mode already active does not add another surcharge. Returning to normal does not remove charges already accumulated.

Taxis show the meter and extra charges; limos and alternative rides show a text fare display.

Leaving early

Pressing F to leave before arrival is treated as abandoning the ride without paying. With the built-in postals configured, the service reports your player name, nearest postal, and unpaid fare through BigDaddy-LocalsCall911 or chat. This is separate from canceling a pickup before entering.
