Gizmo
INSTALLATION
- Copy the complete
BigDaddy-Gizmofolder into your server's resources directory. - Preserve the supplied folder structure and runtime files.
- Start Gizmo before the products that use it in
server.cfg.
For example, when using Storage:
ensure BigDaddy-Gizmo
Keep the folder named BigDaddy-Gizmo. Copy the entire package rather than only its NUI files or client bundle; the manifest loads the supplied runtime wrappers.
USING GIZMO
Open the placement or editing action in the supported product. That product creates or selects the entity and launches Gizmo. Use the transform handles to adjust the object, then save or cancel using the keys shown in the Gizmo Controls legend.
| ACTION | BEHAVIOR |
|---|---|
| Translate Mode | Displays movement handles for changing position along an axis or plane. |
| Rotate Mode | Displays rotation handles for adjusting object orientation. |
| Toggle Orientation | Switches between world axes and the object's local axes. |
| Cursor | Requests a switch between cursor interaction and camera handling. |
| Place on Ground | Requests ground placement for the selected entity. |
| Save | Finishes the edit and returns the result to the calling resource. |
| Cancel | Ends the edit through the cancellation path. The calling resource handles restoring or removing its preview. |
Use the keys displayed during the active session. The interface receives control bindings from the runtime, so this documentation does not assume fixed keyboard defaults. The UI starts each session in translation mode with world orientation. It also ignores the save key during the first two seconds to avoid immediately accepting a newly opened edit.
Placement access, the command or menu used to open the editor, and what happens after saving depend on the product using Gizmo. For example, Storage opens Gizmo for container creation and movement, then submits accepted coordinates to its server for validation.
CONFIGURATION AND INTEGRATION
The supplied build is already packaged for FiveM. There is no exposed INI or JSON configuration. Keep the supplied runtime wrappers and assets together when installing or updating.
The following describes the integration already used by supported Big Daddy projects. It is not a complete API specification or an instruction to extract the component for unrelated projects.
CLIENT ENTRY POINT
Existing C# integrations call the client export with an entity handle:
dynamic result = await Exports["BigDaddy-Gizmo"].startGizmo(new
{
handle = previewEntity
});
previewEntity is an entity already created or selected by the calling client. Existing integrations check that BigDaddy-Gizmo is started before opening placement.
RESULT FIELDS
| FIELD | USE IN EXISTING INTEGRATIONS |
|---|---|
error |
Checked before processing a placement result. |
action |
Compared with "save" to decide whether to accept the edit. |
entity.position.x, .y, .z |
Position components used for placement. |
entity.rotation.x, .y, .z |
Rotation components used for orientation. Some calling products use only the Z rotation as heading. |
Treat returned data defensively. Existing consumers check for errors, inspect the action, and process position and rotation only when accepting a saved result. A cancelled or failed edit must follow the calling product's cleanup path.
CALLING RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The calling resource controls which users may open placement, creates or selects the preview entity, and applies any product-specific placement rules. Its server validates and persists accepted changes where required. Saving in Gizmo returns an edit result; a product's server must still accept any requested persistent placement.
Existing consumers also own preview cleanup and restoration. Storage, for example, deletes temporary creation previews after editing and restores an existing container's original local transform before submitting a saved move to its server.
COMPATIBILITY AND SCOPE
Some Big Daddy integrations include Object Spawner, Trains prop placement, Storage container placement, Camping prop placement, Car Wash placement, and Fireworks placement and more. Follow each product's instructions for the actions that open Gizmo and the permissions needed to use them.
